Arbuckle Depot Models by
Sidetrack Laser now available
Sidetrack Laser is a company that designs, manufactures and markets Laser Cut HO and O Scale Model Railroad Structure Kits. Some of the kits are freelance designed, but many of their kits are based on prototype buildings. When they work with prototypical buildings, they endeavor to keep them as close to the original building as they can. Owners Larry and Lori Cantrall from Oregon have designed a model of the Arbuckle Depot from photos obtained from Southern Pacific files that are believed to have been taken in the late 1950’s. Other photos used were taken, by Sidetrack Laser of the depot as it stands today, on a visit to Arbuckle.
The following paragraph of background information was obtained from the Railroad Museum in Sacramento:
“Three identical board and batten depots, built during 1876-77 at Arbuckle, Yolo and Zamora (on the line from Davis to Willows and Tehama, measured 20’x60’. Another at Vincent (South of Mojave) was 20’x47’. Two larger board and batten depots (24’x80’) were at Dunnigan and Williams on the Davis-Tehama line. All six of these depots had an operator’s bay with a hipped roof added under the eaves on the depot's gable roof in the 1890’s." SP Trainline Fall 1998
ARC is considering selling these models with the profits going to help with the depot project. For more info on purchasing an Arbuckle Depot Model, send ARC an email, or contact Debbie Charter.
