The little park just
south of Arbuckle near the I5 Off Ramp. This
Park was acquired through the Caltrans
Adopt-a-highway project. Rodger Olsen
originally planted the three trees and
watered the trees by hand before Alsco Geyer
Inc. installed an irrigation system and laid
down sod. Future plans are to install a
welcome to Arbuckle gateway sign on the
southern part of the property.
This park was acquired
through the Southern Pacific Railroad
Company and the Ray Pluth Family. The plan
for this park is for a 56 vehicle parking
lot with a spacious park, gazebo, and picnic
area perfect for family gatherings and town
functions. The park was beautifully
landscaped by Curtis Pile and Charla Parker.
Valerie Ehrke donated her time and skills to
layout the blueprints of parking spaces and
park areas. Future plans are to complete the
paving of the parking lot, installing the
Gazebo and Picnic tables, as well as install
old fashioned light fixtures to give
downtown that hometown charm.
Arbuckle has a history
of veterans who served and lost their lives
in the battles our country fought for its
freedom; what better to commemorate these
fallen solders than with a memorial park,
complete with American flag, park benches,
and commemorative plaque.
This land is owned by
the Southern Pacific Railroad and is under a
long term lease agreement with the ARC. The
Landscaping was provided by, Curtis Pyle and
Charla Parker; Irrigation was installed by
Alsco Geyer; Concrete and stonework was
provided by John Stimac; as well as the
various community members who assisted in
laying out sod.
